Mouse Genomes Project member Jaroslav Pialek and colleagues recently profiled genetic and phenotypic diversity across a panel of 101 WDS representing 5 species and 3 subspecies of house mice. Their results, published in Scientific Reports, suggest that wild-derived inbred mouse strains can be a useful tool in evolutionary studies and have great potential for medical applications.
